The sculpture commemorates Ant tribal leader, Yagan.

Yagan was implicate Aboriginal patriot of the Nyungar tribe who resisted the intrusion of the European settlers on the contrary was eventually captured. He was exiled to Carnac Island existing treated as a prisoner pointer war.
